Privacy policy
Last updated 22 September 2026
Talento is a mobile app that lets athletes in Ghana show what they can do, and lets verified coaches and scouts find them. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it. It is written to be read, not skimmed past.
Talento is operated by Ferris Labs ("we", "us"). You can reach us at admin@talentoafrica.com.
Before launch: add the registered company name and address, the Data Protection Commission registration number, and the name of the person responsible for data protection.
Who uses Talento
- Athletes create a profile, upload clips of themselves, and apply to trials.
- Coaches and scouts search athletes, shortlist them, post trials and review applicants. Coaches only get these tools once we have verified who they are.
Athletes under 18 may use Talento with a parent or guardian's consent. We ask for a guardian's name and phone number, and until that consent is recorded a young athlete's clips are visible only to verified coaches — never in the public feed.
What we collect
What you give us
| Information | Why we need it |
|---|---|
| Name, email address (or Google/Apple sign-in), password | To create and secure your account |
| Sport, position, region and city, club | So coaches can find athletes who fit what they need |
| Date of birth | To work out your age group, and to know whether you're a minor |
| Guardian's name and phone number (under-18s) | To record consent, and so a club can reach an adult |
| Video clips you upload | The point of the app: to show coaches how you play |
| Messages you write — applications, notes, reports | To pass them to the person they're meant for |
| Club details and verification documents (coaches) | To check a coach is who they say they are |
What the app records as you use it
- Which clips you watched, liked or saved, and which trials you applied to or saved.
- Your device's push notification token, if you allow notifications.
- Technical logs — the time of a request, the rough type of device, and errors — kept so we can fix faults and spot abuse.
What the movement analysis produces
When you upload a clip, our system measures how you move — speed, agility, balance and so on — and produces scores out of 100 and a rating out of 10. It looks at body movement in the video. It does not identify you by face, and we do not use facial recognition.
What we do with it
- Run the app: show your profile and clips to the right people, deliver applications and invites, and send notifications about things that happened to you.
- Rate clips: produce the movement scores described above.
- Match athletes and coaches: rank athletes for a coach by sport, region, the age groups and positions their open trials ask for, and their ratings.
- Keep people safe: check reports, act on content that breaks our rules, and stop abuse.
- Fix and improve: diagnose faults, and understand which parts of the app are used.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Who can see what
| What | Who sees it |
|---|---|
| Your name, sport, position, region, club, age group and movement scores | Verified coaches; also other users if your profile is public |
| Clips you publish | The feed — unless you are a minor without recorded guardian consent, in which case verified coaches only |
| Your date of birth, guardian's name and phone number | You and Talento staff. Coaches never see them |
| Your email address and phone number | You and Talento staff. Coaches never see them — contact happens through trials and invites inside the app |
| A coach's private notes and star ratings about you | Only the coach who wrote them |
| Reports you send | Talento staff only. The person reported is never told who reported them |
| People you block | Only you |
We share information with the companies that run the service for us: Supabase (accounts and database, hosted in Europe), Hetzner (our servers, Germany), Cloudflare (video storage and delivery), Resend (email) and Expo (push notifications). They may only use it to provide that service to us. We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety.
Where your information is kept
Your account, database records and video files are stored in Europe (Supabase in Frankfurt, Hetzner in Germany, Cloudflare R2 in the EU). Cloudflare's network delivers video from a location near you, which is what makes playback fast in Ghana. This means your information is transferred outside Ghana; we rely on our providers' standard contractual protections for that transfer.
How long we keep it
- Your account and clips: until you delete them, or delete your account.
- Original uploaded files: deleted 7 days after processing. We keep the compressed clip people actually watch.
- Applications, invites and notifications: kept while your account exists.
- Reports: kept after they're resolved, so we can spot repeat problems. If you delete your account, your name is removed from reports you sent.
- Logs: a short period, for fault-finding and security.
Your rights
Under Ghana's Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843) you can:
- See what we hold about you.
- Correct anything wrong — most of it you can edit in the app.
- Delete your account: Profile → Privacy & safety → Delete your account. This removes your profile, clips and applications, and cannot be undone.
- Object to how we use your information, or ask us to restrict it.
- Complain to the Data Protection Commission of Ghana.
To exercise any of these, email admin@talentoafrica.com. We will reply within 30 days. A parent or guardian can make any of these requests on behalf of an athlete under 18.
Keeping it secure
Accounts are protected by Supabase authentication, and every request is checked against row-level security in the database, so one person's data cannot be read by another even if the app is modified. Sign-ups and sign-ins are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile. Traffic is encrypted in transit. Verification documents are kept in private storage that is never served publicly.
No service can promise perfect security, but if a breach affects you we will tell you and the Data Protection Commission as the law requires.
Children
Talento is not for children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, email admin@talentoafrica.com and we will remove it.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top and, for anything significant, tell you in the app.
